Kindness turned inwards

Each month I send round a wee blether (chat) to people who have shared they enjoy reading them, it's called the Good Morning your mental health matters. I started doing it during lockdown every day pretty much as these were strange times and sharing my wee thoughts and ideas to get through what was happening seemed to be helpful.  Each time I went to stop the good mornings people asked me to start them again, so now I offer them every month. If you would like to receive one just email me, everyone is BCC in and they go out the first Monday of the month.

This month was a wee bit different, it was actually sharing a blog I had posted on the GCVS notice board around the issues that sometimes means that those who are kind to others, can often neglect their own needs. You can read that post below.

It is quite a long piece, so it was a long email and I know people are busy, so I also added a poem to the good morning as a reminder for those who care for and about others, that they matter too. You can download a copy of that below.

World suicide prevention day is the 10th of September, a time when we are minded to be kind and be there for others. This wee postcard may be of interest around the power of kinder conversations.

However, it is so important to also remember to be there for yourself and be kind to yourself, especially when you are being kind to others as at times you can forget you have needs to, please believe me you also really do matter. These tips offer some ideas on being kind to yourself, however, what is most important is finding something that works for you. You are an amazing person and in a world full of problems you are part of the solution, but you cannot do it all and it matters when building a kinder world that you experience kindness to and that starts with being kind to yourself.
