The Glaswegian Way to Wellbeing Stoicism
We created a resource exploring emotional awareness as part of our Glaswegian way to wellbeing. We thought it may also be interesting to explore the stoic nature of Glaswegians. This involves treating others with justice, kindness and respect to benefit the wider community. Having the courage to face adversity with strength and integrity, relying on each other to get us through challenging times, to take pride in our communities and city while not taking ourselves too seriously.
This booklet shares where this stoic nature is helpful to us when we balance this with emotional awareness and recognise while we can endure hardship without complaint, and don’t want to burden others with our problems, as we know they have problems of their own, but also when we open up and share we actually offer each other some peer support and realise we are not alone.
