The quote, often attributed to George Bernard Shaw, "The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place,’’ invites us to consider how often when we are communicating with each other, do we really understand what it is someone else is saying, or even sometimes are we saying what we mean? There can also be various experiences and health issues which can impact on how people connect and communicate as well as how we are all unique as individuals e.g. a neurodivergent person may have different communication styles. Taking the time to understand each other and help improve communication in so many areas of our lives. These wee tips do not have all the answers but may offer some ideas worth exploring.
